XR_Center and XR_Games (specialized area eXtended Reality, Games and Immersive Systems) have been organizing Game Jam at PJAIT for several years, as a part of transdisciplinary activities by HASE research initiative (Human Aspects in Science and Engineering) by the Living Lab Kobo Association. It is a multidisciplinary contest for young creators and developers, both software and content, namely students from Computer Science and New Media Art departments.
This year’s edition featured a completely new look, based on the graphic design shown below. The new visual identity for our well-established annual event was created by Mateusz Szewczyk. The fresh design aligns with our center’s branding, which recently won a Silver Award in the Branding category at the prestigious 2024 European Design Awards (ED AWARDS).
This year’s Game Jam slogan was “Up, up and away!” Participants, primarily young designers, developed computer game concepts for the competition. Teams consisted of both visual artists and programmers. The main theme was games inspired by the atmosphere of science, fiction and space. The visual identity prepared by Mateusz combined 3D and 2D elements, referring to motifs known from classic films and computer games. Mateusz designed a complete visual system for the Game Jam, including posters, social media graphics, static and animated event screens, badges, and more. The 3D model was created by Karol Klaput, an alumnus of our Academy and a member of the XR Center Students’ Club.
